There is a fundamental paradox in software development: engineering teams are among the most valuable assets in any organization, yet they are often managed with outdated tools and misaligned processes. Having seen this firsthand across corporate environments, from large enterprises to fast-growing startups, I know the struggle to maximize the value of development teams.
The Origin Story
DevGrid was born during my time as VP of Engineering. When our startup scaled from 20 to over 80 engineers in a matter of months, the informal management approaches that had worked at smaller scale simply broke down. Spreadsheets could not keep up. Tribal knowledge evaporated as teams grew. There had to be a better way.
What started as a hallway sketch evolved into a comprehensive platform designed to give engineering leaders the visibility and control they need, without the overhead.
Introducing EngOps
We call our approach EngOps, Engineering Operations. Think of it as the evolution of DevOps philosophy applied to the management layer. Just as RevOps transformed how companies think about revenue operations, EngOps aims to synchronize and enhance every aspect of the engineering lifecycle.
EngOps is not just about speed. It is about nurturing the entire engineering ecosystem while balancing process improvements with cultural preservation. It brings together data from source control, CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and project management tools into a single coherent view.
DevGrid as Your Chief of Staff
The platform functions as both chief-of-staff and coach for engineering leaders. It provides visibility across the development ecosystem, from vulnerability management and resource tracking to sprint oversight and technology posture management.
We are on a mission to empower engineers and their managers to excel. Whether you are a CTO looking for portfolio-level insights or a team lead trying to understand sprint velocity trends, DevGrid gives you the data you need without disrupting the teams that generate it.
